My Research Interests
While my research interests are along a wide spectrum of issues, I have come to find overlapping themes and intersections that connect different areas.
In general, my interests include:

-
Spirituality
-
Caregiving of individuals with a neurocognitive disorder
-
Grief
-
Geriatrics
-
Death & Dying
-
Substance abuse
-
Trauma
-
LGBT issues,
-
Mindfulness
-
Counselor and supervisor competency
-
Mental wellness

These topics and areas converge to cover gaps such as what I desire to do for my dissertation which is translating directive play interventions for elders with neurocognitive disorders and their caregivers.

RESEARCH IN PROGRESS
Currently I am in the editing stage of a textbook chapter about queer spirituality in the deep south; also, I have an accepted publication in the upcoming GLBT Issues journal about the new Trump administration and how this affects LGBT individuals and families. Recently, I have been invited to write with faculty from La Salle University in Colombia to write a textbook chapter on teaching methods for an international summer academy. Also, currently I am working with my colleagues on a project of a perceptions and reflections of older sexual minorities in long term care facilities.
